China IPPR International Engineering Co Ltd (IPPR), a subsidiary of Sinomach, recently signed a consulting contract for the ultra-long baseline laser interferometer precision measurement device project of Zhejiang Lab, a research institute established jointly by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, Zhejiang University and Alibaba Group.
This is another underground space experiment facility undertaken by IPPR after the precision gravity measurement research facility of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the frontier physics experiment facility of Tsinghua University which requires very low levels of background radiation. The project is again proof of IPPR’s outstanding competitive strength in major science and technology infrastructure.
The project is designed to make good use of the stable and superior geological conditions and ultra-long baseline of the mines of Mogan Mountain in Zhejiang province. It will involve a world-class ultra-high precision laser interferometer for high-precision measurement.
A space gravitational wave detection laser interference system in a vacuum pipe and a large circular Fabry-Perot interferometer will be used to conduct advanced technology verification of space gravitational wave detection which will then be applied to national strategic development projects.
